The AgIT bank was ceremoniously opened by Hon Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Ministre of Agriculture on 30th July 2010.

Progress upto 31st October 2010
- Providing necessary equipments and internet access to AgIT bank
- Acquiring 63 books on agriculture
- Acquiring Booklets and Videos produced by the Department of Agriculture and CD ROMs produced by Cyber Agriculture Extension Project
Progress upto 19th Marc 2010
The facility is presently used by farmers, students and extension officers of the Department of Agriculture. A plan has been developed to improve the facility to establish a National Agricultural Information Centre.
