Sub project No. 1

District: Hambantota
Title of the sub project : Establishment of an OFC seed producing village
Project Manager : Mr. Hiran Pieris

Crop : Ground nut
Extent: 8 Acres 
Divisional Secretary Division: Tissamaharama Grama Niladhari Division : Agbopura.

Progress as at 31st October 2010:

  1. 15 farmers participated in seed production programme
  2. All farmers were trained on cultivation, pest and diseases control, harvesting, post harvest techniques and seed processing
  3. Crop establishment completed – “Tissa” variety planted in 8 Acres
  4. Unexpected dry weather led to early harvest

District: Polonnaruwa
Title of the sub project : Establishment of a seed paddy producing village

Crop : Rice
Extent: 35 Acres

Number of farmers involved: 13

Progress as at 31st October 2010:

  1. 13 farmers participated in seed production programme
  2. 25 acres planted
  3. 03 training programmes were conducted for farmers
  4. Demostrations and field visits completed
  5. Amount of seed paddy produced –
    Bg 352 - 1350 Bushels
    At 308 - 338 Bushels
    Bg 403 - 160 Bushels
    At 631 - 12 Bushels
  6. Income Rs 1,860,000.00
  7. Profit 1,597,488.00
